Extremely Comfortable & Very warm.
As a side sleeper only, I need a wider than normal mat for a comfortable nights sleep, Combined with my down filled, square shaped sleeping bag (Alpkit Cloud 9) , I can stretch out more, It's like being in bed at home! So I purchased the Regular Length (183cm) Wide (64cm) version of this mat and honestly, I don't regret it for a second, despite the somewhat steep £120 price tag. But what is a decent nights sleep worth to you after a long hard days hiking? Not waking up the next morning, feeling terrible because of a lack of sleep on an uncomfortable mat, is worth the asking price, IMO. It is thick enough (5cm) for me to have it at about (guesstimate) 80% inflation for just the right amount of softness/firmness, without any hint of my hips pushing through to the ground, which is vital for side sleepers like me. The wing valve is a fantastic feature as well, it lets you lie on the mat and make very fine, slow adjustments to the mats firmness without any risk of letting too much air out before you can close the valve, something that is a real annoyance on other mats with valves that are either fully open or closed, with no in-between. The mat is rated as 3 season and you can certainly feel the warmth as you lie on it, and I'm sure in combination with a thermal roll mat underneath, it will easily cope as a full on 4 season mat through the winter months. The reassurance of closed cell foam is also a plus point in my book, especially for extended, remote hiking/camping. Knowing that if it does pick up a leak, that you will at least have the internal foam as cushion, rather than having nothing at all with an air inflation mat only, Which are useless after a leak/puncture in the middle of the night. Overall I couldn't be happier with it and I think anyone buying this, will be too.

Took some time in deciding which was the correct sleeping mat for me. Settled for the Apex and wasn't disappointed. Not the lightest of roll mats but still extremely light. Seller delivered on time and more importantly in time for my camping trip to try it out. Very pleased

Plus size side sleeper - Works for me!
I am 5' 7", 275 lbs, and a side sleeper. This sleeping pad works great. Comfortable enough and just wide enough that I don't feel like I am falling off the edges, even if I'm on my back reading before going to sleep. I wouldn't choose to use it for car camping, since I have the space for a larger, thicker pad in those instances, but when I need to travel light for canoe camping or wilderness trips, this fits the bill. My only complaint is that the valve is not as "one way" as I would like. When I'm trying to get all of the air out of the sleeping pad to roll it up, I can hear and see air coming back into the mat as I'm trying to press air out of it, even thought the twist lock valve is set to deflate.

Für mich der Beste Kompromiss zwischen R-Wert, Preis, Gewicht und Packmaß. Es wäre schön, wenn ein Pumpsack dabei wäre.

Comfortable and warm but a little bulky
I go on one backpacking trip a year and I spend a few weeks every winter sleeping in my car for ski season so I know a little bit about camping pads. I am replacing an original thermarest classic I got from my parents when I was in middle school, those things last forever. I wanted a little more comfort so I got this one because it is cheaper than the neo xlite but has a nice trade off of weight and warmth. I love how comfortable it is and how easy it is to use the valve. The fabric is pretty slippery so I wonder if I will have issues sliding off of it but it is very quiet. It does seem pretty durable and I think it will be easy to clean. The pad when stored is a little bulkier than I thought it would be and can be hard to roll up really compactly but I will probably get better at that with practice. The stuff sack has compression straps but they don't really make it that much smaller. I knew what I was getting though so that doesn't knock a star off for me. I may update this review after car camping on it for the winter, but so far I am happy with it and excited for some winter camping.

I am writing this long-a$$ review for all of the customers who would enjoy reading an unbiased opinion from someone who does not enjoy sleeping on air pads; but who has also experienced sleeping on S.I. foam pads that are comfortable. I returned this pad and purchased one from their Australian competitor. SIZE/PORTABILITY: The size & weight of this pad would be perfect IF it were an actual S.I. foam pad. The foam inside is practically nonexistent and it soon becomes apparent that this pad is going to need to be blown up with mostly air as soon as you see how much cheap & crinkly polyester material remains where the foam leaves off. There are plenty of reviews who will rush to the defense of Therm-a-rest with the prefacing statement of “there’s no true self-inflating” pad, and that statement is true, however, this pad does it the worst out of all I’ve tried and contains the least amount of foam COMFORT: feels like you’re laying on a pool inflatable but with this crinkly, noisy & uncomfortable surface. Polyester should be done away with. Horribly cheap fabric type that is literally made out of garbage and that really highlights how disrespectful the company is about charging an absurd amount of money for what’s essentially a pool floatation device with a thin layer of cheap foam inside (not memory foam either). PACKAGING: Therm-a-rest spent all R&D on the packaging of this product. The stuff sack it came in was a nice smooth, quiet, light weight rip-stop Nylon that they should’ve used in the pad’s fabric instead of the garbage polyester they chose. The packaging is the best I’ve seen in all of its competitors. There was no patch kit that comes with this pad either, unlike Sea To Summit’s. I’m going back to Sea To Summit until Therma-Rest can respect their customers again. I am significantly disappointed that they’re forcing me to buy non-American products. Get it together and make a quality S.I. lightweight sleep pad please.

Very comfortable for side sleepers
Love it! I got it wider to be very comfortable. For backpacking, it does take more space than the Xlite in the rucksack but it's a compromise that is worth it to me. Inflates quickly, I used the pumpsack from the Xlite to top it up and it worked perfectly. I didn't bounce around, easy system to adjust firmness and it doesn't sound like a packet of crisps.

Durable Sleep Pad for Hiking
One of the challenges of hiking is the ability to get a good night's rest. A great sleeping air pad is essential however generally the more comfortable it is, the larger it is. The prolite was a great balance between size and comfort. However what I like most is that it is durable. I've had sleeping pads that only last a few hikes, however the prolite has lasted 30 nights already for me and doesn't appear to be wearing.
